July 14: Harry Chapin: A Celebration in Song

Harry Chapin: A Celebration in Song

In a concert to remember, the famous musical Chapin Family comes together to celebrate and bring alive the music of the late Harry Chapin. Songs like "Taxi," "Cats In The Cradle," "Mr. Tanner," and "Circle" are sung by those who know them best- Harry's original band and his amazing family. An evening full of story, emotion, humor, and transcendent music, this is a concert to fill your ear and stir your heart.

A Celebration in Song is made up of a group of both family and friends of Harry Chapin. Unless otherwise noted the following group of artists will make up the line up for the performance on July 14th.

Tom Chapin - Grammy award winning singer/songwriter who's been called "one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music" by The New York Times and"the best family artist around" by Billboard Magazine

Steve Chapin - singer/songwriter and Clio award winner and the multitalented producer, director, pianist, vocalist who arranged and led Harry's Band.

Jen Chapin - "A jazzy, funky performance - her vocal style combined the understated drama of Janis Ian with the cool, sultry, exuberant bebop of Rickie Lee Jones." Newsday. Harry's daughter is a singer/songwriter who has been forging a strong reputation on her own.

Big John Wallace - A talented musician who served as Harry's longtime bassist and sidekick. Wallace is the high voice on "Taxi" and the low voice in "Mr. Tanner." Big John is a cult figure to all serious Harry Chapin fans.

Abigail Chapin, Lily Chapin, and Jessica Craven - Tom Chapin's singing daughters who separately or together weave vocal magic.
